Other Dogs: Good with female dogs

Cats: Not suitable to be around cats

Notes: Griffin is 2 years old and 60 lbs and what we believe is a Shepherd/Chow Chow mix. Griffin is a bit of a challenge, but once you have his trust, you have your best friend for life. Griffin was brought in by law enforcement and was very unsettled at the shelter at first. He growled, he gave dirty looks. He was distrustful. Three days later he decided to be friends. Now, he dances around with excitement when I visit him, loves to love and be loved. He is one of those who needs to be allowed time to warm up, but I believe it is well worth the wait. Griffin is now happily sharing his kennel with a girlfriend, and is so happy for the company. I am looking for an experienced rescue dog owner/s, fenced yard, no young kids, no cats, a female dog is great but lots of experience introducing dogs and A LOT of patience and love. He truly wants to trust people, but just does not know how. If you think you can be his person please e-mail or fill out the adoption application form (see the link below)

Safe Haven Puppy Rescue is an out-of-state adoption arm of Mary Ann Morris Animal Society (MAMAS), a private 501c3 nonprofit shelter/rescue formed in 2001 by a small group of local people concerned about animal welfare in Bamberg County, South Carolina and beyond. MAMAS is dedicated to ensuring the humane treatment of animals. It is a no-kill facility that depends mostly on donations to care and find homes for those in our charge. After an approval process, MAMAS dogs can be sent to loving homes and rescues in SC, NC, VA, MD, PA, DE, NJ, NY, VT, NH, and ME, via MAMAS on the Move Transport (read about our transport under Volunteer). We cannot send dogs to adopters in CT, MA, or RI, but can send to approved rescues in these states. Our dogs are healthy, socialized, and all out of state dogs travel with a veterinary health certificate which states they are free of contagious disease.
