Notes: Stumpy is one of the sweetest dogs that you will ever meet. Stumpy is nine years old and has lots more love to give. She is both house and potty trained, but is not used to her crate yet. Stumpy is a very loving dog, but she gets scared when she is around men. Stumpy loves barbeques and will smile when she is content. She does not like being alone and prefers to hangout inside the house. Stumpy needs loving, but is very happy to give it back. She has an amazing personality that will make a great addition to your family. Stumpy is ready to be a part of your forever home. Sadie is a friendly, active, attention seeking, darling of a Chow Chow. She is very exuberant and just loves to play with toys and other dogs, cats too if they will let her. House and crate trained. She enjoys being brushed but bathing her is not a favorite activity. She is a perfect lady in the house and only destroys her toys. She loves to be outside in cool weather. She will bond with her new owner in time.

ONE BY ONE

One by one, they pass by my cage
Too old, too worn, too broken, they say
Way past his time, he can’t run and play
They shake their heads and go on their way
A little old man, arthritic and sore
It seems that I am wanted no more
I once had a home, I once had a bed
A place that was warm, and where I was fed
Now my muzzle is grey, and my eyes slowly fail
Who wants a dog so old and so frail?
My family decided I didn’t belong
I got in their way, my attitude wrong
Now I sit in this kennel, where day after day
The younger ones are chosen and taken away
When I had come to the end of my rope
You saw my face and again I knew hope
You saw past the grey, the legs wobbly with age
And felt I deserved life beyond this cage
You took me home, gave me food and a bed
You gently stroked my poor tired head
We snuggle and play, you talk to me low
You love me so dearly, and make sure I know
Although I have lived most of my life with another
You outshine them with a love so much stronger
I promise to return all the love I can give
To you my dear friend, as long as I live
I may be with you for a week, or for years
We will share many smiles, and a few tears
When the time comes, that God deems I must leave
I know you will cry and your heart it will grieve
When I arrive at the Bridge all brand new
My thoughts and my heart will still be with you
And I will brag to all who will hear
Of the person who made my last days so dear.

All Dallas Pets Alive adoptable pets are spayed or neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccines upon adoption. The minimum donation for dogs six months to seven years is $200, puppies under six months is $250, dogs eight years and over are $100 unless specified otherwise. Our organization is run mostly by volunteers, and all of our pets are housed by dedicated foster families throughout North Texas. We focus on helping the healthy and treatable pets who are at risk of euthanasia at Dallas Animal Services. By rescuing the pets at greatest risk and helping owners who are having problems so great that they need to surrender their pets to a shelter. In our rescue program, we focus primarily on the pets who have already been passed over by other groups and the Dallas Animal Services’ adoption programs, taking only the healthy and treatable pets who have no other options. Because we do not have a shelter facility, the only way that we can save these animals is with the help of foster homes.
