As the local animal shelter serving Louisville/Jefferson County, our organization took in almost 8,000 animals last year. We give these homeless pets a second chance through adoption, rescue, reunification with owners, and so much more. Be a hero to one of our shelter pets: adopt one today! All of our adoptable cats and dogs have been given flea preventative and have been spayed/neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped. All dogs have been heartworm-tested, while all cats have been FIV/FeLV-tested. Pets old enough for a rabies vaccine and who will be living in Jefferson County receive a one-year license. LMAS also periodically has other pets such as rabbits and guinea pigs available for adoption. We are committed to helping you find a pet who is a good fit for your particular family. Whatever personality, energy level, or sociability level you need, we have a pet for you. You do NOT have to live in Jefferson County to adopt from us. Let our adoption coordinators help you find a match! Open Tuesday thru Sunday: Noon - 6pm, Friday till 7pm, Closed Monday and Holidays. You are welcome to walk through and browse the pets at this facility without completing an application first.
